Dr Frise is an Obstetric Physician, who works alongside her Obstetric colleagues to deliver high quality care to women in whom pregnancy is complicated by medical conditions. These may occur prior to pregnancy, in which case careful planning of a pregnancy is required, or during pregnancy.
When planning a pregnancy
Dr Frise is available for consultation by any patient with a medical condition that might complicate a future pregnancy, for example:
Diabetes mellitus
Thyroid disorders
Kidney disease
Liver disease
Rheumatological conditions
Neurological disorders
When planning an IVF pregnancy
Dr Frise has a special interest in assisted reproductive techniques (e.g. IVF, ICSI) in women with medical conditions, and sees women about to embark on these treatments to advise about any modifications that might be required in light of pre-existing medical disorders. The consultation includes:
The impact of the medical condition/s on cycle practicalities
The potential impact of ART on the medical condition/s
Review of all medication and plans for this during ART and a future pregnancy
Assessment of risk for a future pregnancy particularly including pre-eclampsia and venous thromboembolism
When pregnant
She also has expertise in managing medical problems that arise during pregnancy, for example:
High blood pressure and pre-eclampsia
Acute fatty liver of pregnancy
Peripartum cardiomyopathy
Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (obstetric cholestasis)
