Dr Charlotte Frise

Dr Charlotte Frise is a Consultant Obstetric Physician based at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital in London, and is Lead Consultant Obstetric Physician for the NW London Maternal Medicine Network.


Background

Dr Frise undertook her pre-clinical training at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, where she achieved First class honours and then moved to the University of Oxford for her clinical training. She remained in Oxford as a junior doctor and completed her training in General (Internal) Medicine. She developed a specialist interest in Obstetric Medicine, completing additional training at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital. She worked as a consultant in General Medicine and Obstetric Medicine at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for 7 years before starting her current post.


Academic interests

Dr Frise has published numerous book chapters and articles, details of which can be found here. She has also authored a series of electronic learning modules for Medical Problems in Pregnancy, and has written the popular textbook Obstetric Medicine (in the Oxford Specialist Handbooks of Obstetrics and Gynaecology series), published by Oxford University Press in July 2020 and available here. In January 2023, Oxford Case Histories in Obstetric Medicine was published by Oxford University Press. This is available here.


In 2018 she was appointed as co-Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Obstetric Medicine: the Medicine of Pregnancy.


Medical education

Dr Frise is a Senior College Lecturer in Clinical Medicine at Keble College, University of Oxford and offers special study modules in Obstetric Medicine for final year students. She is an enthusiastic teacher of junior doctors taking the clinical part of the membership examinations of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP PACES) and has had a key role in PACES teaching in Oxford for many years. She is a PACES examiner for the Royal College of Physicians.


Dr Frise is registered as a Data Controller with the Information Commissioner's Office.
